TNSAMB was established by an executive order of the State Government vide G.O. Ms. No.2852 Agriculture Department dated 24.10.1970
Reconstituted as Statutory Board in accordance with the new Act namely “The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act 1987” which was brought into force with effect from 01.02.1991, as per G.O. Ms. No.299 Agriculture (AM.1) Department dated 13.06.1995
The Board is consisting of an President nominated by Government and of the following members.

The scheme aims at development of modern infrastructure and common facilities to encourage group of entrepreneurs to set up food processing units based on cluster approach by linking groups of producers/ farmers to the processors and markets through well-equipped supply chain with modern infrastructure.
A Mega Food Park Project is developed with the both basic enabling and core infrastructure facilities in an extent of 50 acres at SIPCOT Industrial Estate, Gangaikondan, Tirunelveli District at a project cost of Rs.77.02 Crore. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the Gangaikondan Mega Food Park on 07.02.2025 in Tirunelveli District.
Small Food Parks with infrastructure facilities in an area of 10 acres are being established in Seven locations with a project cost of Rs.191.88 Crore.

A Geographical Indication (GI) tag is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are essentially due to that origin. From the year 2021-22, steps are being taken to obtain Geographical Indication tag for 40 agricultural produces in Tamil Nadu through TNSAMB.

Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board Training Centre is a State Level Training Centre Started during 1971 and functioning at Uthamacholapuram in Salem Market Committee campus.
The trainings are being conducted to the officials and staffs of Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri-Business besides training to farmers on food processing, value addition, marketing of agricultural produce and e-Nam.
The International Flower Auction Centre was established in an area of 7.56 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 20.20 Crore from the Supply Chain Management Fund Phase –I of the NABARD-WIF Fund in Moranappalli Village, Krishnagiri district.
The facilities such as cold storage, assaying, handling, packing, training and auction halls are available in this centre. Cut flowers are assayed and auctioned daily.
